Rivers State University
A technological university in Port Harcourt, committed to excellence, creativity and service to society.

Our history
From technical education to a university community.
Rivers State University was established in October 1980, growing out of the Rivers State College of Science and Technology, founded in 1972. The university is located at Nkpolu–Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
RSU is Nigeria's first technological university and the first state-owned university in the Niger Delta. English is the language of instruction across its academic community.
Its motto, “Excellence and Creativity”, expresses a commitment to education, scholarship and the application of knowledge in service of society.
Our purpose
Learning, research and public service.
The University brings teaching and research together with the needs of society. Its academic disciplines and professional expertise support scientific, technical, social and cultural development in Rivers State, the Niger Delta and beyond.
RSU gives students the facilities and instruction to pursue learning, while supporting industry, government and communities through research, consultancy and specialised centres.
